Amana is an NGO founded by Brazilian Muslims with the specific purpose of supporting converts in learning and living their religion in a balanced and well-informed way. Our first mission is to create an environment in which Islamic knowledge is shared with clarity and depth on the basis of our unbroken tradition. In this respect, we stand as pioneers in the Brazilian Islamic environment.
At the same time, we wish to foster a solid, welcoming community, so that Brazilian converts to Islam may enjoy the benefits of a support network not only in their religious practice, but also in their daily lives, as enjoined in the Quran:
And hold firmly to the rope of God and do not separate (3:103).
Last but not least, we aim to build a good, strong relationship with non-Muslims, which make up the majority of Brazil’s population, inviting them to partake in our activities and presenting Islam to them in the best possible way.
